Frequently Asked Questions

How did you get into painting?

When I was a teenager there was a television programme on ITV (the channel I wasn't supposed to watch) called “Paint Along With Nancy” presented by an American lady called Nancy Kominsky. She would make these incredible oil paintings whilst narrating the process. I thought it would make a good hobby. Simple as that. I would paint whenever I had a chance. Practise makes perfect, but I don't think I'm quite there yet. I liked Art Attack too.

What materials do you use?

Watercolour is my medium of choice but sometimes I will use acrylics or pastels in sketchbooks as they are easier to work with. Gary my web guy sometimes digitally enhances the pictures for the website and prints. My new lodger has also let me try a paint package on his iPad and I'm starting to get the hang of it.

How come we've only just heard of you?

Gary, the man that helped me build my website works in a coffee shop in town and I first met him when I went in to see if they would display some of my pieces on the wall. He said they were “a bit twee” which I decided to take as a compliment and that they would need titles for the labels. The first title he suggested was “Tits Around Fat Balls” because that's what it was of I suppose. The next time I went in he was very excited about finding me the perfect domain name. I would have preferred my full name but he convinced me that using just the initial made it easy to remember. He was right and for some reason the website took off.
